- Author: 2circles
- Cover photo description:
- Thonon-les-Bains is an attractive town on the edge of Lake Leman, the biggest lake in Europe, and the capital of the area known as Chablais. The first `town house` was accidentally burnt down in 1815 by the Sardinian soldiers living in it. Fifteen years later the new town hall was built by the Sardinian Mazzone. The building’s layout has been borrowed from Piedmont architecture. The fountain is one of several fountains, springs and wash houses trickling in Thonon town centre and takes pride of place in the Place de l`Hôtel de Ville. It is made of marble from the Vailly quarries
