  • Mingus Mill now part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was built in 1886 was powered by a water turbine, instead of a water wheel, and built by millwright Sion Thomas Early for John Mingus. During winter the mill is not operated by the park system, but the exterior is for visitors to walk the fume line, check out the building. While there is snow on the ground, the flume is overflowing creating ice sculptures on this cold bright sunny day in February 20, 2015.
