Cover photo info
- Photo title: The Miggian Tower, Salento. Italy
- Author: Tonybryan
- Cover photo description:
- The Miggian Tower was built when the sighting towers were already in existence to protect the coast of the city and Castro County. The purpose of the facility was to defend the port of the same name. The structure is made of truncated cone made of masonry with irregular stones aligned in horizontal courses and reinforced by spine pillars at cadenced intervals according to a wall technique of medieval ascendancy that in Terra d`Otranto lasts until the nineteenth century.
