- Cover photo description:
- This is a winter photo of one point along my daily commuter route, heading home from work on Rim of the World Highway. This highway is the main travel artery between the communities of the San Bernardino Mountains, known for its stunning and sometimes frightening high altitude roadside views. My drive along the crest of the San Bernardino Mountains climbs of about 1000 feet, from a little over 5000 feet to a little over 6000 feet in elevation. the view over the edge - to the right, overlooks the cities of San Bernardino, Highland, Redlands, the Inland Empire as it is known, 4000 feet below. On my left are just the very tops of the mountains. The sky is filled with clouds and patched of blue. This is one of the last big turns, for me headed home, up and to the left. Sometimes I feel like I will just fly right off, right up into the sky. Right now there is no snow but when there is, it is a totally different white world, and a challenging slippery road, but still the most beautiful commute all the same!!
