- Photo title: Oude Kerk at twilight, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
- Author: Bogdan
- Cover photo description:
- Oude Kerk (old church) is one of the oldest buildings in Amsterdam (consecrated in 1306), sitting at the heart of the city and surrounded by the red-light district. The actual building of the church grew from the 14th century single-aisled church into a basilica. The current shape is one of the most original I have yet encountered, looking like an aglomeration of houses. Indeed 17th to 18th centruy houses are build sharing a wall with the church. The wooden spire was added in 1565. Image surprised from across the Oudezijds Voorburgwal canal shortly after sunset. HDR image.
