  • This bunker was constructed just prior to World War II on wooden pilings and faces the Atlantic Ocean. Sand has since filled in the pilings. The view port at the middle of the wall is where lookouts with binoculars searched for submarines and other hostile enemy vessels. The offensive capabilities included barbette mounted artillery on each end. The fort could sustain a direct hit from a battleship like the Bismarck`s 15 inch guns.
