Cover photo info
- Photo title: The unique and historic Leavenworth Street retaining wall.
- Author: Peachpappa
- Cover photo description:
- Because of the many steep hills in San Francisco, over 50 in fact, not only is walking up them difficult and possibly dangerous, but during periods of heavy rain, the hill could collapse. For people who live on or near these hills, that is always a real concern. Building a retaining wall has been shown to help preserve the hill, and adding stairs makes it much easier to get up and down. This wall, built in 1919, split the road in two.
