  • Cape Fiolent has not only inviting natural beauty. At the foot of the high cliffs is no less picturesque Jasper beach. Just to the left, in the blue waters of the Black sea, you will see a small hill, it is — the rock of St. George or St. George. One of the legends tells how in ancient times a small ship with Greek traders got into a strong storm near Cape Fiolent. Sensing the imminent death, the passengers of the ship began to pray to the great Martyr George the victorious. Saint George heard a plea for help and appeared on a small rock in a bright glow. He raised his hands to heaven and asked the Lord to calm the storm. The storm stopped. When the rescued reached the rock, they found the icon of the great Martyr George. Taking it with them, the Greeks climbed a large rock and found in the cave founded the temple. And the rock has since become known as the rock of the Holy Phenomenon.
