- Photo title: Plants and flowers of the Costa Vicentina Natural Park, Southwestern Portugal
- Author: Juanvilata
- Cover photo description:
- Throughout the Costa Vicentina Natural Park there is a mixture of Mediterranean, North-Atlantic and African vegetation. There are about 750 species, of which more than 100 are endemic, rare or localized; 12 of them do not exist anywhere else in the world. In the area of the park there are several protected species in Europe. Among the endemisms there are, for example, plants such as: Biscutella vicentina, Scilla vicentina, Centaurea vicentina, Diplotaxis vicentina, Hyacinthoides vicentina, Cistus palhinhae, Plantago almogravensis. However, the agricultural activity has already caused the extinction of some plant species such as Armeria arcuata.
