- Cover photo description:
- Strategically built on a steep hill at the confluence of the Banganga and Majhi rivers, the Kangra Fort is the largest in the Himalayas and also one of the oldest and most beautiful forts in India. It is located just outside Kangra town and about 22 km from Dharamsala. The history of the fort dates back to the 4th century BCE. Originally constructed by the Katoch Dynasty, it has witnessed several battles and sieges over the centuries. It was destroyed by the earthquake of 1905, which struck this sub Himalayan region.
