Cover photo info
- Photo title: California scrub jay, Aphelocoma california, 1.
- Author: Peachpappa
- Cover photo description:
- Often confused the the blue jays, scrub jays are a distinct species, with the California one a unique subspecies. Scrub jays forage among low growing trees, or scrub. And they are very good at hiding the extra foods they get, for later use. Much later sometimes. This thinking ahead of saving food, once thought unique to only humans, is now noted in some other, very intelligent animals, including these corvids. In addition, it has been noted, when spotting another, dead scrub jay, they will call others to `call out`, or screech, over the body. this has been noted to last as long as a half hour.
