Cover photo info
- Photo title: The many colours of Dartmoor, Devon, England
- Author: Davidbexhill
- Cover photo description:
- Dartmoor is a granite upland caused by the upthrust of a volcanic plug or pluton which has then weathered differentially leaving `tors` - large fragments of rock sticking up all over the landscape. The vegetation is heather and bracken, seen here at its best in summer. The whole area is a paradise for walkers. The youth activity - `The Ten Tors Expedition` is held here each year for thousands of young people to learn navigation and endurance skills over fifty miles of walking - point- to point, plus an overnight camp.
