  • Flax (also known as common flax or linseed) (binomial name: Linum usitatissimum) is a member of the genus Linum in the family Linaceae. Flax seeds come in two basic varieties, brown and yellow or golden, with most types having similar nutritional values and equal amounts of short-chain omega-3 fatty acids. Sesame (Sesamum indicum) is a flowering plant in the genus Sesamum. The precise natural origin of the species is unknown, although numerous wild relatives occur in Africa and a smaller number in India. It is widely naturalized in tropical regions around the world and is cultivated for its edible seeds. Pumpkin seeds, also known as pepitas, are small, flat, green, edible seeds. The sunflower seed is the fruit of the sunflower (Helianthus annuus). The term sunflower seed is actually a misnomer when applied to the seed in its pericarp (hull). When dehulled, the edible remainder is called the sunflower kernel.
