Cover photo info
- Photo title: Saguaro Cactus, one of the tallest cactus, 2.
- Author: Peachpappa
- Cover photo description:
- Being able to grow to the height of a two story building and living about a hundred years, Saguaro Cactus is an important part of the desert environment. To conserve water the leaves grow very thin and pointy, the needles we are all so accustom to. Woodpeckers have become adept at hollowing out small halls just deep enough to lay their eggs inside, and then raise their young. After they move out, Elf Owls, among the smallest of owls, will then move in. Even after falling over and decaying, the Saguaro continues to provide foods, moisture and shelter for desert life. This one has a new bud pointing towards the right.
