A young koala who was on the move at night, when Koala bears are most active found himself caught and trapped in between layers of chicken wire mesh and dog wire of a farm fence. We managed to free him without very much human interaction so he could safely find a eucalyptus gum tree to climb and feed and then sleep off his trauma. Koalas are often referred to as a bear and are a natural wildlife icon of Australia but they are not actually a bear. They are very active at night and can travel across many miles to find a good food source tree. They only eat a certain type of Eucalyptus tree and sleep mostly during the day time.
