  • Starting out in 1849 as Grace Church during the San Francisco Gold Rush, by the time it became Grace Cathedral, it was already the third, massive, building. This one, however, was destroyed by the earthquake and fire of 1906. Famed banker and railroad tycoon William Henry Crocker gave his, ruined, nob hill home, for the church. The Labyrinth is based on the one at The Cathedral of our lady of Chartres, France.
