  • The tannery district is a picturesque place in Marrakech, where you will discover the secrets of the leatherworking technique. It is located near the Bab El Sebbagh gate, east of the Medina. Dewaxed, the skins are macerated in huge tanks of pigeon droppings, to be cleaned and relaxed. They are then beaten in other tanks called fullers before moving to tanning with vegetable and mineral tannins, then drying, dyeing and finally drying in the sun again. April 2017
