- Cover photo description:
- The monument, built on a high hill, is similar to a castle rather than a school. The architect of the building where everyone thought of the church for the first time was the architect Constantine Dimadis. The information about the construction date of the school is written on the plaque on the dome along with the sign of the compass. The land on which the school was built also belongs to Dimitri Kantemir, who graduated from this school. After the conquest of Constantinople, the school opened in 1454 with the permission of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror and his patriarch Gennadios. It is the second largest structure of the Golden Horn after Süleymaniye Mosque. The reason why the school is now red is the construction of fire bricks from Marseille.
