Cover photo info
- Photo title: `Abraham`, on a white blank wall on the Begijnhof, Amsterdam
- Author: Djpillow
- Cover photo description:
- Pictured is a stone relief titled `Abraham`. It was part of a restoration project for eight worn 17th and 18th century stone plaques with biblical scenes. They were completely restored by restorer Wil Abels and installed on a blank white wall in the Begijnhof. The plaque depicts the story in the Book of Genesis of Abraham being commanded by God to sacrifice his son Isaac. Just as Abraham was about to sacrifice his son, he was interrupted by the angel of the Lord, and he saw behind him a `ram caught in a thicket by his horns`, which he sacrificed instead of his son. For his obedience he received another promise of numerous descendants and abundant prosperity.
