  • Pictured is a stone relief titled `S IAKOPS POORT`. It was part of a restoration project for eight worn 17th and 18th century stone plaques with biblical scenes. They were completely restored by restorer Wil Abels and installed on a blank white wall in the Begijnhof. It shows a bearded pilgrim before a castle with an open gate, and the significance is not known. Perhaps it is Jacobus de Meerdere as a pilgrim before the gate of Compostella.
