  • Since before colonial times, the cult of death has been present among the original peoples of Mexico and is part of the duality of life. From the Conquest and as a product of religious syncretism, the tradition of the Day of the Dead originated every November 1st and 2nd. On November 1, the All Saints Day is celebrated in the Catholic tradition and all those who died and enjoy eternal life are remembered, even without being saints or blesseds. In addition, children who died at an early age are remembered. In the same tradition, November 2 is the Day of the Faithful Dead and pray for all those who have not yet entered paradise. As Mexicans, we honor our dead by visiting cemeteries and preparing altars for the dead in each home. The souls of our loved ones come back during these days to be close to their family and loved ones.
