  • Pictured is the equestrian monument to General Guiseppe Garabaldi standing in the centere of the piazza where the two sections of Foro Bonaparte meet. The bronze structure was created in 1895 by the artist Ettore Ximenes and the architect Augusto Guidini. The statue is set on a decorative base sculpted with groups of figures representing `Revolution` and `Virtue`. Giuseppe Maria Garibaldi was an Italian general and nationalist. He contributed to the Italian unification and the creation of the Kingdom of Italy. He is considered one of the greatest generals of modern times. In the background is the central tower of the Sforza Castle, the Torre del Filarete.
