Cover photo info
- Photo title: The Valdštejn Castle ruin in Bohemian Paradise
- Author: Nieznansky
- Cover photo description:
- Remains an impressive testament to its former glory, when the ancestral seat of the Lords of Wallenstein stood on this site. Over the centuries the castle changed hands frequently and there were numerous attempts to conquer it. In the 18th and 19th centuries a romantic place of pilgrimage was created from the ruins. A children’s tour follows the trail of the reformed robber-knight Šof of Helfenburk, who has returned to the castle all the way from the 15th century. You will be surprised by the variety of structures: You will see stone cellars, a dungeon, a romantic palace with a medieval section, a Classicist house and also the Church of St. John of Nepomuk.
