- Jewish Quarter The Jews settled in our villa in the eleventh century. In Ribadavia, the Jewish population increased and developed during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, when the fourteenth century arrived a Jewish population of 1,500 inhabitants appears, half of the total of those in the town, according to the chronicler Froissard; and so empathetic they were with the Christians, who lived each other in fraternal consortium, outside the religious.
