- Photo title: Lligwy burial chamber | The cockroach monument
- Author: Thelegacyofthesoul
- Cover photo description:
- This burial chamber located on the island of Anglesey in North Wales, is a certainly atypical chamber, since no chambers of this style had been found all over the British Isles. Excavations carried out in 1909 discovered artefacts in two separate layers, indicating that the site was used over two separate periods. Up to 30 bodies of adults and children were found, also seafood – mussels and barnacles – and many animal bones. Next to them were fragments of pottery from the two periods of possible settlement. As well as grooved items dating from the Neolithic period, and bronze age vessels.
