For more than 300 years, this stone church was used as the seat of the Romanian Diocese of MaramureÈ™, being later built by the master Ioan Macarie a place to serve as a place of prayer for the Greek Catholic community in the area [2]. With a maximum height of 78 m, the church of SăpânÈ›a-Peri Monastery is currently ranked 3rd among places of worship in Romania
