  • This immature female Elephant was captured 10.10.15, jogging along after a good filling up of water at the water manger in the background in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. They sometimes have to travel endless miles to reach water in the dry season. They are from the family eliphantidae. Three species are currently recognised: African bush, African forest and Asian. African Elephants are listed as vunrable on the List of UICN. Elephants are the largest living terrestrial animals, males 304 -336 cm 10ft-11ft tall at the shoulder with a body mass of 5.2 -6.9 t 5-7 - 7.6 short tons and females standing 247 -273 8ft 1in - 8ft 11in tall in the shoulder amd a body mass of 2.6 - 3.5t 2.9 - 3.9 short tons
