  • Pictured is the 1936 Centennial Wild Rose Pass historical marker along Highway 17, ten miles northeast of Fort Davis, Texas. It was erected by the State of Texas celebrating the Centennial of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2nd at the Convention of 1836. State Highway 17 goes through the pass, which is two miles long and named for the Demaree rose, which grows at springs and seeps in the area.
