  • Constructed in 1848, Biloxi Lighthouse stands in the middle of a highway adjacent to the Mississippi Sound of the Gulf of Mexico. The lighthouse has been kept by female keepers for more years than any other lighthouse in the United States. One of the first cast-iron structures erected in the South, it stands 65-feet tall from its base to the tip of the weather vane on top and it is 14 feet, 10 inches wide at its base.
