- Photo title: The Beauty of Linouw Lake
- Author: Genaditoar
- Cover photo description:
- Lake Linouw or Linow is a volcanic lake located outside Tomohon, near Manado, Indonesia. Some hydrothermal vents are spewing hot gas from the edges and depths of the lake. The changing chemical composition of the lake means that it changes color frequently, ranging from red, dark green, and even dark blue. The lake is bordered on its sides by Mount Lokon and Mount Mahawu. This lake smells like rotten eggs due to the enormous amount of sulfur in the lake. The word `Linouw` comes from the Minahasa language which means `the gathering place of water`.
