  • Pictured is the information plaque at the seaward corner of the Old Fort remains in Lahaina Banyan Court Park on the island of Maui in the state of Hawaii. The fort was originally built in 1831 by the governor of Maui, Hoapili, under the authorization of Queen Kaahumanu. The Lahaina Fort was demolished in 1854. However in 1964, the State Parks Department reconstructed a part of the old fort wall here in the southwest corner of the park.
