  • Cover photo description:
  • The fortress was the symbol of the principality of SălaÈ™ between the XIV-XVII centuries. At the corners of the enclosure and on its sides, there were once towers. The interior of the enclosure housed the prince`s wall house and a courtyard chapel, with a bell tower, founded at the earliest around the seventeenth century and later transformed into a Calvinist chapel. After building a fortress nearby, the nobleman arranged a comfortable residence here, building around a courtyard more spacious and brighter rooms than those of the fortifications. The living rooms had hand-made stained glass windows. Brick vaults were built above the windows, of which only a few pieces have been preserved. Salasu de Sus, Hunedoara county, Romania, Europe
