  • Cover photo description:
  • Duivenvoorde is a country estate with a stately castle in the form of a moated nobleman`s house. It is located in the Duivenvoorde corridor below the South Holland town of Voorschoten. The construction of the current seventeenth-century country estate was completed in 1631. The castle as we know it today was not the first building on this site. As early as the first half of the thirteenth century, a fortified medieval residential tower was built on the site of the current castle. It is mentioned as early as 1226 and is one of the oldest castles in South Holland. That also marked the beginning of the history of the Duivenvoorde estate.Wiki
