  • The vereda da Boca do Risco links the coastal villages of Porto da Cruz and Caniçal, at the easternmost tip of Madeira’s island. The hike can also be extended to reach the Ponta de Sao Lourenço peninsula. This coastal path crosses some of the most spectacular coastal sceneries in the island, including some of the last remnant patches of coastal laurisilva forest. It is a very rewarding experience, although not advisable in days of strong wind as certain sections of the path are considerably exposed, especially when approaching Caniçal.
