  • Cover photo description:
  • About 3 inches tall, Tsa-Tsas are primarily small hand-made stupas chortens crafted from clay using a metal mould and tucked away in niches, caves and other sacred places. Mostly painted white, some can also be seen in gold and red. They are made following certain rituals which involves recitation of different types of mantras and are filled or stamped with mantras and relics. Sponsoring or making of Tsa-Tsa is a way to accumulate merit and purifying obscurations as well as to honor the deceased through mixing their ashes into the Tsa-Tsa material.
