- Cover photo description:
- The current cathedral was built between 1752-1780. The plan of the building was made by the Italian architect Giovanni Battista Ricca 1691-1757, called to the Holy Roman Empire by Empress Maria Theresa. After the death of the first architect, the construction was completed by Franz Anton Hillebrandt from Vienna, who decorated the church with Austrian Baroque ornaments. The basilica is composed of a main nave with a length of 70 m and a width of 30-40 m. The walls are covered with Vascau and Carrara marble.
