  • Oradea Fortress is one of the few bastion fortresses in Romania. Oradea Fortress was and is the emblem of Oradea and the central point of cultural events. The first construction was initially build, at the end of the 11th century, on an island located between the arms of Crisului Repede and PeÈ›a, a swampy and forested area. Here, in the area called the Deer Garden, King Ladislaus of Hungary used to come hunting, building the first building, a church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
