- Photo title: Copper and bronze alloy faucet
- Author: Mutiwagner
- Cover photo description:
- In the 19th century, water was supplied to homes with the aid of steam pumps, which required another type of faucet to withstand the increase in water pressure. That`s how the screw tap, invented in England in 1800 by Thomas Gryll, came about. Similar to modern faucets, it had a screw that forced a sealing ring against a flat surface, thus stopping the flow of water. With the taps, people`s daily lives became much easier. Now, they could bring it to their homes, no longer having to go to the fountain or the well to get it.
