  • Petrovsky Travel entrance Palace on the Tverskoy Tract Leningradsky Prospekt is a travel palace at the entrance to Moscow from St. Petersburg. It was built in the 1776-1780`s by architect Matvey Kazakov and is an example of Russian Neo-Gothic architecture. Catherine II ordered the construction of the palace in connection with the successful completion of the Russian-Turkish War of 1768-1774, it served as a residence for noble persons after a long road from St. Petersburg to Moscow hence its name - `way`. Vacant lands belonging to the Vysokopetrovsky Monastery at that time were allocated for construction
