- Photo title: Male House Finch perched at a bird feeder
- Author: Lindalombardo
- Cover photo description:
- Haemorhous mexicanus. The House Finch. This little bird is looking up, most likely at another bird that would like a chance at some black oiled sunflower seeds. Originally a North American West Coast dweller, it`s territory now spreads to the East Coast, thanks to the accidental release of some birds on Long Island, NY in the 1940`s. They are nonmigratory so you`ll see them at your feeders year round. They especially love black oiled sunflower seeds. Cheerful red head and breast, they stand out among the sparrows. They have a long twittering song.
