  • Cover photo description:
  • Golden Gate Park is over three miles long from the main entrance on Stanyon Street where McLaren Lodge is, west to the beach, and about a half mile wide. This allows for many official entrances to the park. By 1886, there were cable cars running between various parts of the park and the Ferry Building, at the very end of Market Street downtown. One such cable car ran up and down Hayes St, from 1886-1948, when it was replaced by busses. At the time of the cable car, there was a wooden entrance gate. The original gate was replaced in the mid-1920`s with concert gates, that now lead to the Phil Arnold Oakwood`s trail. As seen February to March 2022.
