  • Cover photo description:
  • The Moseño wind instrument is a very clever design to make a functional very deep and bass sounding flute. Traditional in the Andean cultures Incas of Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and Chile. It is a pentatonic scale instrument with six holes. Five on top and one below for the thumb. It is so long and big that it couldn`t be handled with a normal mouth piece. So an extra hollow tube is added to create a closer blowing hole to the other holes. The wind reaches the whistle chamber and a deep soothing sound is produced. This Moseño is made by a red colored bamboo, carved in selective places to give a yellow contrast and is decorated by red wool and traditional symbols.
