  • These are my new favorite types of insect and my first year encountering these. They seem semi rare and are so beautiful to watch. This is a hummingbird hawk moth and almost looks like a large bee. As I was taking my pictures I didn't know if they could sting or not. These are also called clearwings from how you can see through their wings. They are also known as hawk moths or even sphinx moths. To me they almost look like flying crayfish. This particular one was visiting this bee balm flower trying to get food and helping to pollinate any flower she encountered. This picture was taken in the East Coventry township nature preserve outside of Pottstown in Pennsylvania.
