- Cover photo description:
- When I was walking past this field the other day, I saw this larger type of bug flying around from flower to flower. When I first saw him, I thought he was a bee. The black and yellow almost resembles a bumblebee. After taking his picture and looking closer, I thought his tail made him look like a flying crayfish or lobster. This is actually one of the rarer of the hummingbird moths, it is the snowberry clearwing. I love the black stripe across this ones eyes that almost makes him look like a bandit or a badger. The pretty black body with the yellow patch of fur make this so unique. This one in particular was enjoying the bee balm flowers and collecting their nectar which also helps to pollinate the flower. This picture was taken in the East Coventry township nature preserve close to Pottstown in Pennsylvania.
