This is one of a couple different types of hummingbird moths. It is known as the clearwing hummingbird moth. This is not to be confused with the snowberry moth, hawk moth, or sphinx moth which is what they could commonly be confused with. These to me can be a marvel to watch. This one in particular is visiting this bee balm wildflower in the middle of a field. They almost seem to mimic the way hummingbirds fly and collect their nectar. I really love the green patch of fur on this one's body and the way the tail almost makes it look like a flying lobster. The see-thru wings that this guy has is where they get their name. I love how this one's antennas are straight up and the legs are hanging down from his body. This picture was taken in the East Coventry township close to Pottstown in Pennsylvania.
