  • Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan is the oldest and most important Buddhist temple in southern Thailand, dating back to the time of founding of Nakhon Si Thammarat city in the 13th century. It is said to contain a tooth relic of Buddha and is presently one of the sites in Thailand that has been submitted for consideration by UNESCO as a future World Heritage Site. The chedi or stupa is the symbol of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.
