  • Pictured is the entrance to TT69, the private tomb of Menna in the area known as the Tombs of the Nobles on the West Bank at Luxor in the hills of Sheikh Abd el-Quarna. The area has 146 tombs dating to the 18th Dynasty. TT 69 is believed to be about 3,400 years old. Menna was a scribe and field overseer of Amun in ancient Egypt. Menna`s Wife, Henut-Tawry, was the Chantress of Amun. After construction, the face of Menna was destroyed by vandals to deprive him of his afterlife and the god Amun`s name was scratched out from all places.
