  • This is a Nasua narica species, Procyonidae (racoons and relatives) family. Common name: white-nosed coati, pizote (Guatemala). Found in Mexico and Central America. It inhabits wooded areas in tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests and moist broadleaf forests. On average, the nose-to-tail length of the species is about 110 cm (3.6 ft) with about half of that being the tail length. The white-nosed coati is an omnivore and forages mostly on the ground for small vertebrates, fruits, carrion, insects, snakes, and eggs. Observed inside Tikal National Park, Maya Biosphere Reserve (MBR), Petén department, northern Guatemala.
