Cover photo info
- Photo title: A \"hard to get\" image, a butterfly frontal view.
- Author: Ricardnature
- Cover photo description:
- This is an Anartia fatima species butterfly, family Nymphalidae. Common name: banded peacock butterfly. Its range generally begins in southern Texas and continues south through Mexico and all of Central America and Panama. This butterfly prefers subtropical climates and moist areas, such as near rivers. It spends much of its time in second-growth woodlands. I think images like this one, a good buttterfly frontal view, are really hard to get for nature photographers. Observed near the Mayan Biosphere Reserve in Petén department, Guatemala. Population and distribution threatened by climate change.
