- Author: Jareso
- Cover photo description:
- View of ruined interior of Likava Castle, Liptov region, Slovakia. This castle ruin is wide known because it is believed that it was used as prison for Juraj Janosik, famous Slovak outlaw (Slovak Robin Hood). Likava Castle was build in 14-th century as guardian fortification on the road to the Orava region and further to Poland. During centuries it was witness of many conflicts. Finally it was destroyed and ruined at the beginning of 18-th century by Austrian Emperor army. In 20-th century it was partially reconstructed and ruins were archaeologically preserved. Now some parts of the castle are opened to public. If you will be nearby don’t forget to make a short hiking trip to this castle.
